1. Our Website and App Privacy Policy

Your privacy is really important to us. This Website and App Privacy Policy explains how we capture and use your personal information when you visit the Skinny website and use the Skinny app, or use Social sign in.

 In this Website and App policy: 
"we" or “Skinny” or "Spark" means Spark New Zealand Trading Limited or any related Spark Group company providing you with our services
"you" means you, the person using our services, or visiting our website 
"services" means all goods or services we provide and anything else we do for you, including providing you with access to our website

Please read them in conjunction with this policy. The Website terms of use includes our site management rights

3. Information we collect

Visiting our site

If you are visiting our website, then we collect and store the following information about your visit: 

  • the IP address of your machine when connected to the Internet and the domain name from which you are accessing the Internet
  • the operating system and the browser your computer uses, and any search engine you are using
  • your browsing behaviour
  • your Skinny account activity
  • the date and time you are visiting
  • the URLs of the Skinny pages you visit and actions you take (like pushing buttons on our website)
  • if you provide it, your email address, Skinny account number and other personal information
  • the domain name of the page you visit after leaving the website

Using Skinny’s app

When you download the Skinny app, we collect your device ID. As you access your account from the app we will collect your account activity

Social sign-in

If you’re using Social sign-in, we collect (as appropriate):

  • your Facebook email address
  • your unique Facebook ID
  • your Google email address
  • your unique Google ID

Skinny customers visiting our website

If you are a Skinny customer, terms apply to your use  of Skinny services. The Customer Terms set out our commitments to you regarding collecting, holding and using information about you.

Additionally, if you do provide us with personal information via your use of this site - for example by allowing the use of cookies or by filling out an electronic query form - we may link this information to your Skinny customer profile. We may also use this information to improve the website for different customer profiles. 

4.  How we use your information

Visiting Skinny’s website or using the Skinny app

When anyone visits our website, we use this information to measure the number of visitors to different parts of the Skinny website and, for example, to measure the effectiveness of advertising. When you download and use the Skinny app we collect the device ID so we can see how many people have downloaded it.

Although we may publish aggregated information about usage patterns, we do not disclose information about individual machines except for the reasons set out below in this section. We do not sell information which identifies you personally. We may gather more extensive information if we are concerned, for example, about security issues. If we think it is necessary, we can disclose information to relevant law enforcement authorities, such as the Police or the Department of Internal Affairs.

If you choose to provide us with personal information such as your email address, for example by filling out an electronic query or order form, we will use that information to communicate with you in response to your query, about the goods and services we provide or are about to provide you or other matters we consider might be of interest to you. If you have a Skinny account, we may also use this information to send you marketing messages in accordance with our email and SMS marketing policy set out at section 7 below.

When you transact with us via the Skinny website or Skinny app, we keep a record of your transaction so that we can provide you with your services. Transaction data will also be passed through to Google and Facebook, in order to contribute sales to different ad placements. The data we pass through to Facebook and Google for this purpose is anonymized. Use of cookies for advertising and analytics

When you visit our website, we place a cookie on the hard drive of your computer. A "cookie" is a file which allows us to track and target the interests of users.

In addition, our website uses third party cookies, including from Google Ads, Facebook, Google Marketing Platform, Quantcast, CHEQ, Bing Ads & Google Analytics for Display Advertisers. Our website’s third party cookies include the following features:

Google Marketing Platform & Google Display Network Impression Reporting - which gives us additional insight into who has viewed our paid digital advertising on other websites. This will help us optimise and tailor our advertising.

Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform integrations & Remarketing with Google Analytics – the integrations between both our web analytics and paid advertising platforms together give us additional insight. This allows us to tailor our advertising to ensure the right types and offers are shown to you while you are using the internet outside our website.

Facebook - We use cookies to help us tailor ads and to make recommendations to people who may be interested in the products, services or causes we promote.

Quantcast – This allows us to understand the characteristics and demographics of the people who visit our site and allow us to deliver relevant online advertising to individual consumers.

Bing Ads - This allows us to show you relevant products, services and offers while you are using the Bing network outside our website based on your browsing behaviour on the Skinny website.

Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting - which gives us insight into behaviour information relating to visitor age, gender and interests on an anonymous and aggregate level. This will help us to understand browsing behaviour to give you a better experience whilst visiting our sites.

CHEQ – which helps us distinguish between humans and bots/computers accessing our website, so we can prioritise making it better for the humans. 

Cookies may be used to analyse your use of our website and, based on your behaviour, used to provide you with more personalised experiences. For example, we may use this information to serve you ads about Skinny products relevant to you when you visit our website and third party websites. The information we collect and share with third parties through cookies is aggregated and anonymous (it does not include personal information which is likely to identify you). Additionally, this data may also be used to create profiles of customers that have similar online characteristics as you so that we can offer them the same or similar products.

After becoming a Skinny customer (by creating a profile via our dashboard on our website) we will use your email and/or mobile number to communicate with you. This includes both service and marketing messages. However, you may opt out of receiving marketing messages (see further details in section 7 below).

Social sign-in

We use:

  • a person’s name to personalise any messaging during the sign-in and store their name in the Skinny login identity we create; and
  • the email address as the identifier for the Skinny login identity as it is email based and needs a unique email address for each .

5. Access to your information 

Personal information will be stored and used in accordance with Skinny’s Terms and Conditions https://www.skinny.co.nz/skinny-terms. You have the right to access your personal information where we hold it in a readily retrievable manner.

To update your personal information, such as your email address, you can contact us by calling 0800 4SKINNY (0800 475 4669), dialing 204 from your Skinny phone or contact us online via our website https://www.skinny.co.nz/help/

6. Security

When signing in or shopping online, look for the 'padlock' symbol at the bottom of your web browser. The 'padlock' symbol is a certificate of authenticity and ensures the site is secure. You can double-click the padlock symbol to view the certificate's details. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is the most accepted way of ensuring the security of transmitted information to and from Internet sites worldwide. On our site, it operates when you complete and send forms, but not while you are simply reading Skinny’s website. 

7. Skinny email and SMS marketing policy

In relation to all email marketing activities undertaken by Skinny, we adhere to the following principles 

  • "Permission" means that informed consent has been given;
  • Permission must be respected and honored and may be withdrawn by a subscriber at anytime; and
  • If Permission is withdrawn no further marketing communication may be sent to the subscriber.

Skinny complies with all laws related to unsolicited email (SPAM) and SMS and will thoroughly investigate any complaint that suggests we may be delivering unsolicited email or SMS. 

If you have opted in for marketing emails and SMS, and later want to unsubscribe ("opt out") from email marketing and SMS communications, there are three ways to unsubscribe from these messages: 

  • Follow the unsubscribe instructions in the email
  • By phone or in writing using the contact details contained in the message
  • Online via the "My Preferences' and 'My notifications' sections of the Skinny website

How do I file a complaint?

If you feel that your email address has been used without your permission and contacting the sender has not yielded satisfactory results you can issue a formal complaint by calling 0800 4SKINNY (0800 475 4669) or dial 204 from your Skinny phone or you can contact us by email. 

8. Changing this Website and App policy

We may change this policy at any time by changing or removing existing terms or adding new ones. Changes may take the form of a completely new policy. We will tell you about any changes by posting an updated policy on our website.

Data Breach Notification Policy

We work hard to ensure all customer data is kept safe and we follow industry best practice in this regard.  If we become aware of a data breach that we consider could compromise customer security, our policy is to report this to affected customers at the earliest opportunity.  We may also report the breach publicly, where we consider it is appropriate to do so.

While we will try our best to accurately show products on our site, some products, especially their colours and sizes, may appear differently on your screen than what they actually are and we dont guarantee that the actual product will look exactly the same as what you can see on your screen. The products and services available for purchase on this website, including their prices and features, may change at any time without notice. 
We may limit the number of products and services you can order on this website at any one time, and your purchases may also be subject to credit card limits. 

Delivery of product orders on this website are by courier, within New Zealand only, and need to be signed for. You take responsibility for a delivered product at the time the delivery is signed for by you or on your behalf.
